I tip my hat to… hats!

I tip my hat to… hats!

Hats were invented a long time ago, but for a different purpose than wearing them as fashion accessories.

They were worn for ceremonial or religious reasons, for safety or protection – later, they also became fashion accessories.

In the past, hats were an indicator of social status. As far as the military service was concerned, hats denoted nationality, patriotism, branch of service, rank and/or regiment.

Structured hats for women similar to those of male courtiers began to be worn in the late 16th century.

In the first half of the 19th century, women wore bonnets that gradually became larger, decorated with ribbons, flowers, feathers, and gauze trims. Well, by the middle of the 1920s, when women began to cut their hair short, they chose hats that hugged the head like a helmet.

I suppose hats were famous all the time, but now I see more and more ladies wearing headgears.

In my opinion, fashion nowadays has teached us how to combine good-looks with useful.

You manage to protect against sun rays and also maintain your custom style.

Don’t worry about ruining your hair.

That aspect is the least important when you’re exposed to heat-strokes.

But, when chosing a hat, you have to take in consideration a few factors.. as in, your face shape.

If your face is round, you have to be careful with the hat model. You should go for something that will give the illusion of height, because your face already tends to look short.

The best choice is a fedora, a gambler or a panama.

If you have a long, thin face shape, you would like to look for a hat that shortens the appearance of your face. Try to avoid crowns that are square, full, or too high.We recommend a Fedora, a Homburg, or a Derby.

If your face is squared, you should go for something that will add some curvature to your face and make it appear less boxy, like a Homburg or a Bowler.

If you have a long nose, pick a hat that will break up the line from the brim to the tip of your nose.

A fedora is just perfect.

A proeminent jaw should be completed by a hat that will balance your strong chin.

Again, the fedora is a good choice.

If your ears stick out, don’t worry, hats save you.Girls with large ears, should pick a hat that will cover them.

We suggest Gambler, Panama, Wide-brimmed Fedora.

It’s also important to chose the right color for your complexion or hair color. But this is optional, I would say. Not everyone is informed about these categories that we count on when wearing a hat.

If you skin is :

Ruddy – the right colors for a hat are brown, blue,  and gray.

Dark – goes well with brown.

Darker olive – brown or green.

Pale - Dark Blue, Gray .

Moving on to hair color, the best choices are :

Auburn, Red heads-  Brown, Green, Blue

Blonde - Brown, Green, Gray

Brown - Gray, Green

Gray Hair - Green, Gray.

As far as matching is concerned, don’t hesitate in wearing a hat with wide brim with a dress. This macth will give you a very feminine appearance wherever you go.

If you’re more of a “manlike” girl, no problem !

Luckily, there is a variety of hats waiting for you to wear. Fedoras are also a good option. They complete your childish look and have that playful tone.
